via TMZ - Riff Raff has pulled a Kid Rock ... jumping ship in the rap game to pursue COUNTRY music -- and he's even changing his name to something a lot more down home.
Raff just recorded a song called "Take U Away" -- which he'll release shortly -- and he tells TMZ, it's recorded under the name Jody Highroller.
Raff's new song is a little pitchy, but it's catchy as hell ... and it was produced by Dame Grease, one of DMX's go-to producers. We're told Raff's country ambitions are also backed by Diplo ... one of the top producers on the planet.
Riff Raff -- who hails from Houston, TX -- insists it's not a joke, telling TMZ, "I love country music ... I'm good at it and it's a good fit."
The man behind the George Zimmerman-DMX fight announced that he has cancelled the bout. Earlier today, Damon Feldman revealed on Twitter that he made the decision to forego "a lot of money" because people's feelings mean more to him than money.
GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) - Rapper DMX was picked to step into the ring with George Zimmerman on Wednesday in a celebrity boxing match, but the rapper said it isn't a done deal yet.
DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, said he has a stipulation before the fight - which the promoter is calling one of the biggest celebrity boxing matches of all time - goes forward.
"Well, I was challenged, I was challenged. You know, I still haven't really decided if I would do it. But if I did do it, the money going to him would have to go to charity," DMX told FOX Carolina's Cody Alcorn.
The 43-year-old DMX was chosen from more than a thousand people who applied online to fight the 30-year-old Zimmerman, who was acquitted in the murder of Trayvon Martin in July of 2013.
DMX told Cody Alcorn he wasn't sure when he would make a decision about the fight, but the 6 foot tall, 160 pound DMX is ready if it does happen.
"DMX has promised to 'beat his a**,' but no contract or paperwork has been signed or agreed to yet," Domenick Nati, DMX's publicist, said in a statement.
